“Jesus asked His disciples thus” “But whom say ye that I am? Matthew 16:15. It is the expectation of the Almighty God that man as the crown of His creation will know the truth and the truth will set such soul free (John 8:32)
Jesus Christ throughout His sojourn on earth exemplified this truth by His teachings on the supremacy of the Almighty God his father who deserves all the praises and thanksgiving who made everything for His glory and pleasure.
This same God, the Almighty Father does not share His glory with anyone. If this is so, why then do Christians, the followers of Christ and believers of the gospel make this mistake?
In this light, let us ponder again, who is Jesus Christ, is he the Almighty God and the most Powerful God?
In ignorance, many Christians and scholars in today’s Christendom, especially the new generation churches now exalt Christ as the Almighty Father, and this is causing a great displeasure to God Himself and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. This sermon will try to correct this misgiving once and for all, for the full blessings therein and for the joy of Humanity. More divine enlightenment would be shared, all to the glory of the Almighty God. I AM THAT I AM.
Why this mix-up, misunderstanding or controversy amongst Christians? We shall examine and search the scriptures which many interpret erroneously in this regard.
Firstly – Isiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Secondly – John 1 vs 1 – 4, & vs 14 “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him and without HIM was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men and the word was made fresh and dwelt among us ****** behold his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth.”
Thirdly – the principle and concept of the Holy Trinity as being said erroneously in today’s Christendom, even in the orthodox churches: Anglican, Methodist, Catholic etc. that is, God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.
In examining the above, one may tend to believe verbatim that Jesus Christ is Almighty God but with closer understanding, all these were revelation to Prophet Isiah and John.
This is because of the significance and importance of the shedding of blood and redemption of mankind by Jesus Christ. The Almighty God gave him that authority and privilege to assume and use the attributes and virtues (characteristics) exhibited by God Almighty Himself. Let us note this as we progress in this sermon.
If Adam had not faulted in the garden of Eden, there would have been no need to send His son for the work of redemption. Just like you and I made in God’s image and likeness, filled with all these virtues to rule and subdue the earth like Christ expects us to do like him. This WORD made flesh is the greatest love expressed to and for mankind by the Almighty God and Jesus Christ is the physical expression of this love. Hence is it right to now conclude or say that for sending his son, the son is now the Almighty God?
The Almighty God is the creator of Heaven and earth, and all therein, HE is the one and only one, I AM THAT I AM, ALL IN ALL. He is an embodiment of love hence He visits His people from time to time no mortal man can see HIM because HE is spirit hence, He sent his Son the only begotten in His likeness and image to dwell amongst men, to show and display HIS love, power and mightiness to mankind.
It is the same spirit of God planted in man with the love of Christ that gives man the liberty to do the will of God and be successful in his sojourn on earth.
According to the 1st commandment – “Thou shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3). This connotes that there can never be 3 Gods, thus the common saying “God the Father, God the son and God the Holy spirit is out of context. This is not right. The son – Jesus Christ and the Holy spirit were created by the Almighty God who is the only Uncreated. They emanate from God Himself. The Holy Trinity is often symbolized or depicted by an equilateral triangle.
The peak point is always at the top with two points at the left and right sides of the triangle base. This signifies that Christ the son and the Holy Spirit are not equal with God. Though the 3 are inter-related and work harmony in perfect agreement (John 10 vs 38). No rivalry, no self-seeking glory. God the Father is the Creator, He created the Holy Spirit with the Power, virtue and efficacy of the WORD for HIS own use and glory. Hence God is in Christ and in the Holy Spirit while the two are also in HIM. These three personalities – God the Father, Christ the son and the Holy Spirit the comforter are one in God at the beginning, before creation. At the right time, God sent the son, for the work of redemption. At the completion of Christ’s work on earth, the Holy Spirit was sent to continue where Christ stopped. Let us note this second point as well.
We shall now examine various quotations, sayings and references from the Holy Book and as revealed by the MASTER HIMSELF.
Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God during His sojourn on this earth plane taught mankind the supremacy of Almighty God over all His creations including himself.
1) Matthew 28:18 – “And Jesus came and spoke unto them saying “All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth.” From this saying, I ask who gave him all these powers in heaven and earth? Since he did not give himself. It is his Father (Almighty God)
2) John 10:36 – when the people attempted to stone Jesus with the accusation that he called himself God – Jesus replied – “As for me, the father chose me and sent me into the world, how can you say that I blaspheme because I said that I am the son of God”. Here Jesus claimed that he was not God but the son of God.
3) Mark 10: 18 – “why do you call me good? Jesus answered, “No one is good except God only”. Here Jesus emphatically replied that only God was Holy. If Jesus was the Almighty God as claimed, he would not have rejected the idea of his being called Holy.
4) Matthew 16 vs 15 – 17: “He saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my Father which is in Heaven.” These statements by Jesus Christ clearly showed that some of us unlike Peter are using our human nature to make the mistake of calling Christ the Almighty God. It is only the spirit of God as revealed to Simon Peter that can reveal the TRUTH.
5) Matthew 26:39 – “And Jesus went a little further – Abba Father and fell on his face and prayed saying O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless not as I will but as Thou wilt.” Here, Christ is referring to the Supremacy of God whose will only be done and not his.
6) Colossus 1: 13-15 – “Who hath delivered us from the darkness and hath translated into the kingdom of his dear son in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Who is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature.” The interpretation of these statements mean that God did not send himself to this world but sent his only begotten son – Jesus Christ WHOM He had given His kingdom to. That is, God gave Christ His kingdom whose blood was shed for the salvation of mankind.
7) Matthew 24:36 – “No one knows that day or hour not even the Angels in heaven nor the son but only the Father.” When the world would be judged, no one knows except God.
8) John 14:28 – “Remember what I told you, I am going away but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.”
Again, Jesus Christ is referring to the supremacy of his Father. Hence, He is not the Father but son.
9) John 20:17 – “Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father but to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and our Father and to my God and your God”.
Here Jesus was talking to Mary Magdalene.
10) Matthew 27 vs 45 – 46 – “At about the ninth hour, Jesus called out with a loud voice ‘Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?’ which means “my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
What else again can depict the supremacy of Almighty God which Jesus clearly displayed here by seeking the face and help of His Father?
After the ascension of Christ into Heaven, Jesus Christ now sits everlastingly at the right hand of the Father, where he makes intercession for us. I ask, if Christ is the Father, is it logical or possible for the same person to sit at his own right hand? This is food for thought.
11) Luke 23 v 34 – Jesus words from the cross asking forgiveness for those who put him to death (a plea for all humanity).
12) John 6 v 57 – As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father, so he that **** me even he shall live by me. (related – John 17 v 13)
13) 1 Cor 11: 3 – “But I would have you know, that the head of everyone is Christ and the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God.”
Here, Apostle Paul is confirming that Jesus Christ actually has a head, who is His Father – The Almighty God. Hence there should be no dispute or controversy on Christ being referred to as the Son of God and not the Almighty God.
14) Matthew 3 vs 17 – “And is a voice from heaven saying. This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”
Who spoke from heaven? It is that of the Almighty God confirming that He is the one that sent Jesus Christ (His son).
15) Matthew 6 vs 9 – 13 – Lord’s prayer “Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name……. . “ If Jesus Christ is the Almighty Father he would not have said or referred to another person as the Father who art in heaven, after all he was physical with them at this time.
Brethren, and all followers of Christ, from all the above, there should be no controversies or something bothering our mind as to the supremacy of Almighty God. Jesus Christ who is our Lord and saviour IS NOT the Almighty God, but the only begotten son of God. God did not become a man as erroneously being said amongst Christians.
Finally, for the purpose of knowledge and information, as a matter of fact, there are sixteen (16) sons of God of whom Jesus Christ is one of them. His position becomes very unique being the only begotten son chosen for the work of redemption and salvation of mankind. Hence his unique place in the Holy Trinity. Whom shall I send and who will go for us? God was talking to His 16 emanation Sons and not the holy angels as we think, before Jesus Christ volunteered to do the work of salvation.
Just as of old, many of us still refer to Jesus Christ as the Almighty God, just like the Israelites referred to Moses as God. Jesus Christ is still interceding on our behalf because of this misconception because the Almighty God is a jealous God and does not share HIS glory with anyone or spirit. Let us make amends once and for all. However, with the marvellous work of salvation and redemption of mankind, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour deserves all our thanks and all the accolades as well.
The Almighty God is above all spirits, entities, mortals and the created order both on earth, in heavens and the abyss. He has no second and no one is equal to him or above Him. He is big that His size cannot be imagined and so small He is within you and I.
